03.ON LEARNING BASIC MATHEMATICS

The study of mathematics, whIch has always been important, is indispensable to any program of education
From many points of view for many students, algebra is possibly the most important course in high school. In such course, students are introduced to ideas and techniques basic to the development of modern physical, biological, and social sciences.
In addition, the study of algebra gives access to the employment of a rich heritage of man´s knowledge. There is much beauty in mathematics; no one can be counted truly educated who is unaware of the aesthetic quality of the field.
During his years´study of algebra, the student assimilates mathematical theory that is the fruit of centuries of investigation.
In doing so, he opens many areas of possible self-development. In time, many students will apply what they learn in algebra to the technological and scientfic tasks facing our world.
As illustration of the rapid, modern development of pure and applied mathematics, several fields of engineering have developed.
